Our Local Health Food Store on BLAST

We have met so many wonderful people since Grass Root first opened its doors and everyday I learn something about people and this world that we live in.  But what do you say about a large natural Health Food Store that refuses to support a little vegan girls diet, when they are told that she is in St Joseph's Hospital getting doses of Chemo and radiation treatment.  Also her protocol has her on schedule for 3 more years of Chemo and Radiation.  They have such a large kitchen and make so much food, and they are so close to St Joseph's Hospital, it would have been very convenient for a friend to pick up enough food for Sophia who is going on three years old.  They have everything and I am sure they waste more food than Sophia could have ever eaten.

So I am putting this local tampa Health Food Store on BLAST!  Shame on you for not helping her, damn not even a muffin a day.  They have never shown too much love, but we still support because that is the way were are and we respect their store as a family business.  But they are clearly weak, weak weak.  They simply said they are not set up to do something like that.  Whole foods said the same thing. Wack shit!  Anyway we are supporting Sophia in any way we can and if you want to do the same, email us.  info@thegrassrootlife.com

Love to help if I can...my daughter went through similar circumstnces years ago. I was able to get wild oats on board to give patient dicounts, but that was years ago and maybe they have gotten too big for their britches?? Perhaps the corporate office would like to know about the apathy towards their local patrons. I'd be happy to send a letter to the corporate office in Austin if this is the store I am thinking of.
Dissappointed but hopeful

Quick correction. The promotions director for Whole Foods was not available that day and by that evening Sabrina had agreed to provide all the food needed (Thank you so much!). I would like to think that Whole Foods might have agreed to waive the six week notice provision on charitable donations if I would have been able to talk to the marketing director. It was only the local family owner health food store that said they were not set up to do that despite the hot food line in their store. I am so greatful that the Grass Roots is so much about helping and community, they were truly amazing!

I am aware of Wild Oats going out of their way to help a few people that i know. They also hooked us up without haveing to talk to the highest up. Whole Foods on the other hand is all together different.

This is something that Whole Foods would have been happy to do as a company, it just depends on how empowered the particular marketing/community relations team members feels. as the marketing director for a San Francisco Whole Foods Market for years (who would rather beg for forgiveness than ask for permission), this would've been do-able. it's not right to dismiss a whole company doing a lot of good based on one person's reaction.
